Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is offered in our Santa Barbara clinic. It is also known as oxygen diving. The Hyperbaric oxygen chamber is a pressurized tube, that inflates once the client is inside. It is roomy and comfortable. Then, a special mask that delivers oxygen to the client is worn. Due to the pressure in the chamber, oxygen molecules are pushed into the body, increasing the amount of oxygen carried by each blood cell. This process enriches the blood with oxygen, and the blood then heals and rejuvenates the entire body, from the inside out. While everyone can benefit from this treatment, it is especially effective in cases of head trauma (TBI, stroke, concussion), as well as depression. Hyperbaric oxygen boosts the body’s natural healing capabilities, allowing for inflammation to decrease. HBOT is also used by professional athletes and everyday people as a peak performance enhancer.
Dr. Dogris and Dr. Thompson are both licensed psychotherapy providers. Dr. Dogris is a licensed psychologist and Dr. Thompson is a licensed psychotherapist.
We weave psychotherapy into our work with many of our clients. We believe the mind and the brain are inextricably linked. And so, in some cases we use both neurotherapy and psychotherapy with our clients.
Photobiomodulation is a form of low level light therapy. The brain can be stimulated by electricity (tACS/tDCS/tRNS), magnetic fields (pEMF), and light (PBM). Photons (units of light) are at their essence an electromagnetic wave.
Light energy can be absorbed by the mitochondria (the power generators of the cell) in the neurons. The light stimulates specific enzymes which increases the production of ATP (fuel for the cell). It also sets off a chain reaction of events which causes protection and repair chemicals to be made in the brain.
The brain needs connections between the various neurons in order to handle new information so the process can be one of increasing the blood supply and increasing the information (via blood supply). Everything we learn to do, we do repetitively. So, we do neurofeedback and biofeedback repetitively. Changes slowly develop, because each time we exercise our brain, we build. With HEG, this applies primarily to the development of new blood pathways. This is angiogenesis, developing the available blood supply. This process leads to dendritic growth—a bulking up of the brain. Herschel Toomin, inventor of the HEG, thought that using the HEG increased IQ by 10% within 20-40 sessions.
Another modality offered at Neurofield Neurotherapy is the Scenar Cosmodic. Originally developed to help Russian cosmonauts treat their injuries and diseases quickly and efficiently while in space, the Cosmodic is straightforward and effective. It is a biofeedback technology that uses adapting electrical microresonances to locate cells with dysregulated energy signals, clears the cellular memory of these dysregulations by breaking up “energy cysts”, and changes the pattern of stimulation in accordance to the body’s reaction. In doing this, the Cosmodic stimulation communicates with the entire dysregulated system from the focal injury to the Central Nervous system, and directs bodily resources towards the injured location, emulating and enhancing the body’s natural healing properties. In this way, the Cosmodic stimulator does more than heal the body, it rejuvenates it and can potentially make it stronger than it was before.
Every treatment contains a tailored combination of several of these modalities to best address what your body needs at that time. If you would like a session consisting of more time with one or more of these modalities, please let me know when booking so I can prepare accordingly.
