Tiff Thompson Ph.D., QEEGD, BCN, LMFT, R.EEG.T
Dr. Tiff Thompson is a distinguished clinical neuroscientist, neurodiagnostic specialist, licensed therapist, and educator. She is the founder and CEO of NeuroField Neurotherapy, a cutting-edge neurotherapy clinic in Santa Barbara, California, where she provides quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG)-based functional brain consulting to clinicians worldwide. She is also the creator of The School of Neurotherapy, an innovative educational platform offering advanced training in neurodiagnostics, EEG analysis, quantitative EEG (QEEG), and neuromodulation, as well as two fully-fledged certification courses.
Dr. Thompson holds board certifications in neurotherapy (BCN) and quantitative EEG (QEEG-D), as well as a Registered EEG Technician (R.EEG.T.) a medical credential signaling technical proficiency in neurodiagnostics. She is recognized for her expertise in interpreting EEG brainwave activity, identifying functional brain patterns, and applying neurostimulation techniques to optimize cognitive and psychological health.
Dr. Thompson's research spans a wide berth, with entire lecture series dedicated to profiling pathology in EEG/QEEG, developmental EEG and neuroanatomy, event related potential profiles of psychiatric conditions, and the neurophysiology of consciousness. She has collaborated with institutions such as the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences on theta/beta ratios and neurophysiological research.
Among other publications, she is the author of:
"EEG in Depth: Seeing Psyche in Brainwaves" in Introduction to Quantitative EEG and Neurofeedback, Third Edition (Elsevier, 2023).
As a sought-after speaker and educator, Dr. Thompson presents several times each week on various platforms, delivering lectures, workshops, and training sessions on beginner and advanced computational neuroanalysis, neuromodulation, and neurodiagnostics. She teaches both live and online courses through The School of Neurotherapy and speaks/educates regularly at professional neuroscience and neurotherapy conferences worldwide.
She also organizes and hosts an annual conference for The School of Neurotherapy, bringing together leading experts and practitioners in the field to advance research, clinical application, and education in neurotherapy. As a neuroscientist for Dr. Joe Dispenza’s Encephalon Events, she collected and analyzed EEG data from participants in meditative and altered states of consciousness research. She has also worked as an EEG neurodiagnostic technician in neurology clinics, analyzing brainwave data to assist in the diagnosis of neurological conditions.
She specializes in QEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, transcranial direct and alternating current stimulation (tDCS/tACS), pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (pEMF), low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (LORETA), and other neuromodulation techniques. Her work integrates psychodynamic theory with neurophysiological assessments, offering a unique perspective on the interaction between the psyche and brainwave function.
Dr. Thompson has served as Executive Director of the Western Association of Biofeedback and Neuroscience, where she played a pivotal role in advancing neurofeedback education, professional training, and clinical practice standards. She also serves on the Board of the International Quantitative EEG Certification Board, contributing to the development of industry standards for
QEEG analysis. She is currently a Board Member of Jodi House, a Santa Barbara-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Through this role, she advocates for brain health, rehabilitation, and community support for TBI survivors.
She continues to be a thought leader in the role of EEG in psychological and neurological health, frequently delivering public lectures and professional training on neurodiagnostics, neurostimulation, and brain optimization techniques. Dr. Thompson is dedicated to making neuroscience accessible, bridging the gap between brain science, mental health, and technology. Through her work in education, research, and clinical practice, she is shaping the future of neurotherapy, brain optimization, and applied neuroscience.
